2011 At a Glance

Brendan-
Brendan still works for Siemens as a power plant engineer. This year he worked at plants in Washington, Montana,Arizona, and Colorado. Brendan is still in the army reserves. As a sergeant, he is in charge of about 20 soldiers. When home, he works on the constant to-do list for the house. He enjoys walking and playing with the dogs and playing a ton of Xbox. As a couple, Brendan and Hannah enjoyed a trip to Florida for both work and play. Seeing old friends and
going to Sea World for the first time where they got to pet a dolphin was a
wonderful break from “life”. Hannah also visited Brendan while he was on a job
in Phoenix. While there they went to the zoo (which has become their tradition at every place they travel to). At the Phoenix Zoo they got to ride a camel and
feed a giraffe. They also enjoyed a trip to Vegas with friends.

Hannah-
Hannah finished another semester at Metropolitan State of Colorado in the spring. As she was still struggling with tendinitis
in her wrist and could not fulfill piano playing requirements, she looked into different school options to help her finish a composition degree. After a lot of research and prayer, she applied for the University of Denver and was very excited to get accepted. After talking with the head of composition she found out that out of hundreds of applicants, only
10-12 people are accepted, so she feels very honored to be in the program. Outside of school, Hannah enjoys her pets, scrapbooking and cooking/baking. This summer she took motorcycle lessons and got her license. She also took a drawing class (NOT her forte, but it was still fun). This is a portrait of Hannah and Brendan (done in ink).

Belle-
Our dog Belle is turning 3 this Christmas. She has already been having leg problems and late this fall we noticed a lump on her front right paw. She started licking at it so we decided to get it checked out. It turned out to be a tumor. We opted to do the surgery to get it removed and were happy to find it was just benign. She has been WAY more energetic and playful. We are so thankful it all turned out well. (This picture is Belle loving on our new nephew, Isaac.)

Prince-
Prince is our newest addition to the “Greene Zoo”. We had been talking about getting a new puppy to help Belle exercise more and for added protection while Brendan is gone. After a ton of research we decided we liked the “boxer” breed and found a boxer mix pup at the Boulder Humane. We named him Prince (Because he’s too cute to be “Beast”--- but Belle needed a Prince). He is VERY high energy and has been more of an “adventure” in training then Belle was. We are patiently still working with him and are seeing good results. He will be a GREAT guard dog…. As a young puppy he almost attacked Brendan when he came home at 2am from work. That makes Hannah happy—feeling protected.
The Cats-
We still have Isolde, Eilonwy and Vasto. All are doing well and getting along with the new pup. Vasto LOVES Prince and lets him bite on him and chase him all the time.

Our family continues to rely on God for all things. To Him be all glory and Honor.
Merry Christmas!

HOMECOMING

Today, is my first time ever going to a homecoming game. Of course at DU it is hockey, not
football. I have never been to a hockey game so I am kind of excited. I think it will be fun.

I am playing in the Pep Band. There are three keyboardists, (odd I know to have a keyboardist in a band) so we will all be switching off on that, tambourine, and (Da Da Dada!) cowbell. Last practice, the instructor pulled out the extra instruments and I was all excited to play cowbell. But man that thing is loud and cutting! It makes me a little nervous. There is a reason I am not a percussionist….. Loud and obnoxious is not exactly my thing. I think it will be easier to play during the game when the crowd is being loud and obnoxious. We will see.

Meanwhile I am already in my uniform. Finish up homework and off to “work”.

Who are we?

Brendan- Graduated from Colorado University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Business. He then got a job right out of college for a company called Siemens. He and Hannah moved to Florida in 2009 for a year of training as a power plant engineer. Now he travels every Spring and Fall to different power plants and works as a manager during maintenance work. Right now he is Phoenix, Az. until the end of October. In his spare time, Brendan enjoys learning Spanish, reading (just finished the whole Sherlock Holmes series), learning guitar, working on cars/motorcycles and skyping with Hannah.

Hannah- Is at the University of Denver finishing up her Bachelors of Music Composition. She is a part of the Women’s Choral, North Indian Classical Ensemble and Pep Band. Along with loving to play the piano and composing she also enjoys scrapbooking, making cards, graphic design, cooking/baking, animals, and spending time with friends.

Brendan and Hannah as a couple love animals. They have three cats and two dogs. They are considering either fostering animals for adoption events or doing a ministry with their dog(s) at children’s hospitals or senior citizen homes. They love traveling and seeing many different places and have made it a tradition to go to the zoo at every place they travel to. Their hope is to save for a Europe trip in a couple summers.
